A large petroglyph-period pastel by Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, the Salish-Kootenai painter whose 2023 Whitney Museum retrospective was the first that museum gave a Native American artist. Figures, bison and dragonflies in the rock-art imagery that runs through her work of the 1980s sit over a warm, layered pastel ground, with the pencil signature at lower right. The sheet has a documented history back to 1999 and comes floated and glazed, ready to hang.
