Companion to the settle in the same group and sold separately or together. A proper Mission armchair — heavy, square, and comfortable in a way the proportions do not suggest until you sit in it.

Appraised 14 May 1999 by Holly Mitchem, ASA (Accredited in Fine Art, American Society of Appraisers) of Mitchem Arts, Ojai, California. Recorded there as item 34: Arm Chair with Cowhide Seat, CHARLES STICKLEY, circa 1900, American white oak, 37 3/4 x 27 1/2 x 23 inches, very good condition. The appraisal describes black and white spotted cowhide accenting the seat, four vertical "I" shaped back slats, three vertical slats under each arm, an arched front rail, and wide armrests with a support rail under each end with through tenons piercing the front legs. Unmarked — the Charles Stickley attribution is the appraiser's, made in front of the chair.
The figure in that report was a retail replacement value for insurance scheduling, not a resale price, and it is 27 years old. It is not quoted here.
