• Era/Period: 1980s

• Provenance: Gallery C (Raleigh, NC) Certificate of Authenticity, inventory number M423, signed by Gallery Director Charlene Ferrell Newsom; gold foil Gallery C Raleigh seal on the frame backing

• Subject: The white bull terrier from a 1980s New Yorker Magazine television commercial, per the Film Fair studio credit on the certificate

This is an original one-of-a-kind hand-inked production cel, not a limited-edition sericel, made for a 1980s television commercial for The New Yorker Magazine at the Film Fair studio. The certificate identifies the studio and subject but does not name a cartoonist; the dog's look recalls the bull terrier associated with New Yorker cartoonist George Booth, but nothing here documents that connection, so it isn't claimed. It comes with a Gallery C Certificate of Authenticity and gold foil gallery seal, framed under glass with a turquoise circular mat. The white ground behind the figure is a presentation board added at framing rather than a matching painted production background.

The estate service behind this shop

Every piece here came out of a real home. VaultXL is a full-service estate transition and downsizing company — we sort, value, photograph and sell household belongings when a family downsizes or an estate settles, then hand the property back broom-clean.

  • Families keep 85% of every sale. Our 15% covers photography, research, listing, storage and buyer handling.
  • Flat project fees from $350 for a single room to $4,500 for a whole home — quoted after a free assessment, never billed hourly.
  • Jewelry, art, firearms and vehicles go to credentialed partner appraisers before anything is priced.

Serving Charlotte and the surrounding area. Other Carolinas metros are on a waitlist.
