The fine-line work is the thing to look at. The hatching is close, even and painted freehand with a yucca brush — the technique Acoma is known for and the mark of a practised painter rather than a tourist piece. A carved turquoise bird fetish is bound at the rim.

The signature on the base is legible but has not been matched to a named potter, so the pot is offered on its own quality rather than on a name.

Small enough for a shelf, fine enough to look at closely.
