Unsigned Art Deco Watercolour Painting Terrace Scene Nude Goodyear Blimp

PRODUCT DETAILS

• Material: Watercolour and gouache over pen-and-ink and graphite on heavy cold-pressed watercolour paper, in a carved gesso-and-copper-bronze frame under glass

• Dimensions: Framed approx. 27.5 x 35 in; sight approx. 20 x 25 in

• Color/Finish: Full-colour watercolour and gouache washes; copper-bronze frame finish

• Condition: Good. Colours remain fresh and the paper shows no obvious toning or foxing. The carved frame has gesso losses and chipping at the lower corners and rubbing along the outer edge

• Era/Period: Undated; the Goodyear blimp livery and deco-revival style suggest a later 20th-century work rather than period Art Deco

• Subject: A colonnaded terrace scene combining a reclining nude, a rose-coloured gramophone, a Goodyear-branded blimp overhead, and a baited mousetrap beside a flower urn — a deliberately whimsical, anachronistic take on the deco idiom. No signature is visible within the current window mat and the artist is not identified.

This is an original hand-painted watercolour, not a print — the washes sit in the paper's tooth with visible granulation, and pen lines and graphite underdrawing show through the color. The composition layers a classical colonnaded terrace, a reclining nude, a vintage gramophone and a Goodyear blimp into one playful deco-revival scene, with a mousetrap tucked beside a flower urn as a deliberate joke. It comes ready to hang in its original carved frame, with only minor wear to the gesso ornament.
