PROVENANCE — 1999 MITCHEM ARTS APPRAISAL
Appraised 14 May 1999 by Holly Mitchem, ASA (Accredited in Fine Art, American Society of Appraisers) of Mitchem Arts, Ojai, California. Recorded there as item 19: "Prove to Me You Love Me", AL CAPP (American, 1909-1979), 1974, colour lithograph numbered 238/250, 23 x 37 inches, very good condition. The appraisal identifies the characters as Li'l Abner and Granny walking away from the parrot. Signed and numbered by the artist, framed under glass in a stock metal frame. This resolves the artist and edition that the photographs could not: the illegible pencil signature is Al Capp and the edition number is 238/250.
The figure in that report was a retail replacement value for insurance scheduling, not a resale price, and it is 27 years old. It is not quoted here.
