THE SIGNATURE IS PART OF THE PRINTED DESIGN, NOT A HAND SIGNATURE. Under magnification the F.LEGER is rendered in the same flat under-glaze black as the artwork, with uniform letterforms. The decoration is transfer-printed: constant line width, flat colour, precise registration. This is a plate reproducing a Leger composition, and is offered as that rather than as a signed or hand-decorated work.

MANUFACTURER NOT IDENTIFIED — the reverse has not been photographed, so the maker and edition are unrecorded.

Said plainly because it matters: this is a decorative plate carrying a great design, not a piece of studio ceramics. As that, it is a genuinely good-looking thing — Leger's figures work beautifully in the round, and the colour has not dulled.
