Thorn, American, 20th century, canvas weave visible through the thinner passages

This is a hand-painted original oil, not a print, with raised impasto ridges you can see and feel across the mountain and water. The painting is documented: a 1999 professional appraisal of the family collection it comes from lists it as "Mountain Lake" by J.C. Thorn, American, circa 1940, oil on canvas, 18 x 24 in, in very good condition. We have found no auction record for the painter, so it is priced as a documented, well-executed regional landscape rather than on a name. The strongly lit sunset composition and the ornate gilt frame make it a straightforward piece to hang as-is in a living room, cabin, or lodge-style space.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0989/6283/3779/files/4825b02c-a783-41a6-8208-8260023ac4fd.png?v=1790181345
https://vaultxlshop.com/products/alpine-lake-sunset-impasto-oil-painting-signed-thorn-in-ornate-gilt-frame
